Our Milestones

The history of our organization began in 2001. We started as a tuition and enrichment center for children. Our founders observed that there was something fundamentally lacking in some children’s cognitive learning ability. Back then many still did not understand Autism, Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD and other specific learning difficulties.

Year 2004 was the cornerstone as School of Linguistics was incorporated to be a pioneer learning institution for special education programmes. It offered certificate courses mainly to teachers, parents and caregivers of children with learning difficulties.

As more and more people became aware of autism, dyslexia, ADD/ADHD and dyspraxia, the school launched a diploma course to include people from non-teaching professions who recognized that their passion is in special education and who wanted to use that passion to affect society.

In early 2007, the school deliberated over the idea of starting a special needs school as an extension to our training programmes. By August 2007, Saint Clare School for Special Education was set up to provide an educational process that enables children with learning difficulties to become contributing members of their respective communities. At the same time, it also allowed our trainees to apply their theoretical knowledge in a realistic and experiential environment.

That same year also saw the opening of our first regional centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which culminated in a partnership with the Rotary Club of Melawati to open an intervention centre for children with special needs.

This was followed a year later by the opening of our second regional centre in Jakarta, Indonesia through a joint partnership with Shining Stars, an inclusive preschool and kindergarten which provides mainstream and early intervention services, and Hope Worldwide Indonesia, a voluntary organization that works tirelessly to help the poor and needy in Indonesia.

Year 2010 saw the establishment of College of Allied Educators to reflect more appropriately the services and programmes we are offering in Special Education and to embrace the expansion of offices throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

In March 2011, College of Allied Educators was officially registered with Council for Private Education (CPE), the regulatory body responsible for administering and developing the private education in Singapore.

College of Allied Educators is also registered as a Goods and Services Tax (GST) business with the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) as of 1st June 2012.
